Cornwall About to Be Upgraded to High -Speed Broadband

The economic scenario is Cornwall is about to witness a welcome change with the installation of a broadband network that will be of the highest speed in the country. This development is expected to promote the local economy as well as greatly improve the conditions of the workforce of the area.

The scheme, which would enable big businesses to take advantage of the 1Gb speed, is scheduled to begin by next year. This £100 million project has been planned with assistance from southwestbusiness.co.uk and the South West Regional Development Agency (SWRDA).

The project is in the stage of procurement as of now, and is expected to start by the year-end itself, after which the Cornwall Council will open bids for developing the network. According to the head of Cornwall Council Kevin Lavery, the improved network will enhance the prospects of the Cornwall economy, as the gigabyte speeds will enable the larger businesses to operate globally via the internet.

It is also to be noted that this fast broadband access is quite high on the priority list of the Cornwall Development Company. With the faster networks catering to the needs of larger businesses, a sustainable prosperity is expected by the company.
