HSE Takes Steps to Protect Pub Employees
The employees of pubs often have to face aggression and abuse from patrons. The owners of the pub, or the license holders, have an obligation to prevent incidents of abuse and violence. However, they are not always successful in doing the same.
To ensure that this does not happen, safety inspectors from the Midlands have started a campaign with assistance from the Health and Safety Executive. They will visit the licensed pubs to see what measures can be taken to ensure that the staff does not face any violence. The Certificate in Personnel Practice (CPP Courses) is designed to help those who are involved in HR/personnel activities to implement effective HR policies around employment relations and law and get-to-grips with the key issues that impact on employment practice.
The officials will also advise the owners of the premises and the pub license holders regarding the ways in which they can ensure the safety and security of their employees. The measures usually include small changes in the layout of the pubs, better lighting in the premises and becoming a member of PubWatch schemes.
