Christmas Crafts: Candles
Homemade decor and Christmas crafts make for great Christmas gifts as well as a thoughtful Christmas decoration. This craft idea is a great one for kids as it’s very simple and safe to make.
While setting up, lay out some newspapers or an old sheet or tablecloth for an easy cleanup. Pick up some elmer’s glue and inexpensive paint brushes to spread the glue. Glitter glue is also a great one to use. It was add a dash of sparkle to the craft. Also pick up some decorative dishes or candle holders to proudly display the kids’ artwork. The kids can also decorate the dishes and holders using the same supplies.
Steps:
- Purchase pillar candles in white or off-white. For a stylish look, purchase the candles in varying heights.
- Provide the kids with trinkets to glue onto the candles. The decor for decorating can include:
- peppermint candies
- mini candy canes
- holly leaves
- faux poinsettia flowers
- mini pine cones
- red and green ribbons
- Christmas stickers
- mini turtle doves
- stars
- glitter
- Once glue is dry, you’re ready to place them throughout your home or wrap them up as gifts.
- Since these candles will contain flammable decorations, it’s best to not light these candles and just use them as decoration.
